5 Things We Love Right Now

You didn’t think we’d get to February and not speak on love, right? With Valentine’s Day just a week away, we can’t help but take inventory of what we love most.

When you work in the hospitality industry, this inventory looks different. Instead of Flowers and chocolate, you may see us giving out Bier and brats. It’s the thought that counts, though, right?

We want to let you in on the five things we love right now and maybe even give you some unsolicited date night advice. You’re welcome.

Our first advice is that if you’re dining with us on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday, February 14), please make your reservations today, so you don’t miss out! We will explain in just a bit how we make this special evening a unique experience.

1.Double Bock or Doppel Bock Bier

This month, our seasonal Bier is the Double Bock or Doppel Bock. This dark brew is the perfect drink to warm up on a cold night. The notes of caramel and toasted hazelnuts help it pair with any offering on our menu.

This Bier is also suitable for those who enjoy a hoppy finish to their Bier. Dopple Bock is 8.0% Alcohol by Volume, so we advise you and your date to drink responsibly. After giving a quick warning, we encourage you to impress your date with your knowledge of our Biers.

2. Steve Grkman

Nothing is more romantic than being serenaded by a fine musician. So let us suggest one of our favorites, Steve Grkman. This award-winning Polka star can be found in the Bier Hall every Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Some believe Polka may not be “traditionally” romantic, but we disagree. Nothing else makes us want to get close to the one we love and dance to that oom-pah-pah beat more.

3. Brunch

We stand firm in the belief that brunch is indeed an institution. This is why you will find us brunching in the Bier Hall every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

If your special someone is a fan of breakfast foods and music, remember that we will have Steve with us on Sundays!

Our brunch menu is diverse and has something for everyone on it. Some of our favorite selections are:

• Smoked Pork Chop and Eggs
  Imagine a smoked, center-cut pork chop with homemade cranberry-apple chutney paired with a potato pancake and two scrambled eggs.

• Chicken and Waffles
  This Southern staple features two Belgian waffles and a pair of Buffalo-style chicken tenders. We then serve hot maple syrup to top your waffles with.

• Avocado Toast
  Two thick slices of oat grain bread are topped with avocado, diced red onion, chopped tomatoes, and feta. A hard-boiled egg accompanies this yummy dish. Add chopped smoked bacon if you wish to elevate your meal (for a fee). You won’t be sorry.

We wouldn’t dare have brunch without some delightful beverages. So treat your crew to Almost Bottomless Mimosas (maximum eight refills), an Iced Hard Mocha, or A Habanero Vodka Bloody Mary!

We didn’t forget about the kids! They have a section of their own on this menu.

4. Our Valentine’s Day and Family Night Promotion

We are lucky to have Valentine’s Day and Family Night come on the same night this year. To celebrate this, enjoy the following promo on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday, February 14) will be offering the following beginning at 6:00 p.m.

• One free kid’s meal with the purchase of an adult entree.
• Special Valentine’s Day menu
• Coco the Clown will be there for face painting and balloon sculptures for the kids.

5. Spring is Just Around the Corner

Although the weather is a whirlwind these days, we take considerable comfort in the fact that very soon, the temperatures will even out. Before you know it, we will be moving outside to our Biergarten to enjoy a great meal with a good view!

If you and your Valentine are still celebrating one another this Spring, plan a date night in the Biergarten. Our view of the Monongahela River is second to none and makes for some fantastic photos.

We, like most, don’t always get it right, but we hope we’ve given you some ways to celebrate your loved ones this Valentine’s Day.

This holiday has been created to celebrate romantic love and the love we feel for those we hold dear. As a restaurant, those people are our fantastic staff, our customers, and the community we are truly honored to be a part of.
